Her first appearance as a model for fashion was in the year 2017, after she modelled in the shoes of Wendell Rodricks at Lakme Fashion Week after which she was chosen by Rodricks to be a model at his spring-summer 2007 collection. Anushka has been working with a variety of brands since her debut as a model at Lakme Fashion Week. She's been involved in campaigns for Fiat Palio, Silk & Shine Whisper Nathella Jewelry, as well as Fiat Palio. Anushka began to give film auditions alongside her modelling. Anushka was first seen acting in the year 2008 in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, opposite Shah Rukh Khan. To prepare for her screen test, she spent the whole day. Later, she signed up for three movies in collaboration with Yash Raj Films. In the movie she was the young bride of a middle-aged man (the part Shah Rukh Khan was playing). This movie was met with mixed reviews. Anushka played a role in a film named Band Baaja Baaraat, starring Ranveer, where she played a Punjabi-American girl of middle class, who establishes her wedding planning business. The movie was a huge success with a lot of praise. Anushka had completed her three-film contract together with Yash Raj Films.
